Why are we building Sponsor Driven?

In early 2023, I joined the exciting world of motorsport... by sponsoring an upcoming racing driver, Lauren Tayla, who was participating in the MINI Challenge Clubsport series. By the end of 2023, I had sponsored four more drivers - Freya Belk, Daniel Truman, Sarah Hall and Lexie Belk.

Over the course of 2023, I learnt from many different competitors about how challenging it is to fund their racing.

"Cold pitching" for sponsorship

Up until now, many competitors rely on "cold pitching" to as many companies as possible in the hopes that they hear back. Unfortunately, 95% of emails get ignored and most companies that show promise, never follow through. For competitors, this entire process can be incredibly demotivating and soul destroying, and "cold emails" are generally frowned upon by many businesses.

There are some brilliant coaches and mentors out there that can help guide you on "the art of the cold pitch" such as Jess Shanahan (who is brilliant, by the way). The reality is, "cold pitching" is now frowned upon by many organisations, which is why the vast majority will ignore you. So we need to stop sending "cold emails" like it's 2010, and innovate on how competitors can fund their passions and early racing careers.

The future of motorsport funding

With that in mind, I'm incredibly excited about the idea of supporting so many competitors in a way that hasn't been done before. Instead of relying on big sponsorship deals, motorsport competitors can now turn their biggest fans into financial supporters, from as little as £2 a month.
